Dod Hall Renovation
Princeton University
Princeton, New Jersey
Dod
Hall is an example of late 19th century design built before the era of Gothic
architecture established itself at Princeton. Herbert S. Newman and Partners worked with the University
to develop a new program of residential life for Dod Hall’s renewal, which includes room and suite configuration, new shared common spaces, and extending
the dormitory program into the basement and attic.
Renovation of the four story, 132 bed, 36,000 square foot dormitory addressed
all relevant code deficiencies, accessibility, the replacement of all building
infrastructure systems, and the renewal of all interior finishes, fixtures, and
fittings. The goal of these renovations was to achieve a 40 to 50 year life cycle.
