Pierson-Sage Garage,
Yale University

New Haven, Connecticut

Yale University needed to build a 750-car parking structure at the edge of the campus next to a residential neighborhood. To minimize the visual impact of this large-scale structure and integrate it with surrounding university and residential buildings, Herbert S. Newman and Partners designed the garage behind a landscaped berm. This allowed the university to build the garage at a minimal cost using a “package designed” structure while preserving the character of the neighborhood.

We recently concluded a renovation of the structure which provided a major aesthetic upgrade to increase use of the facility.  This included a new facade and entry, new elevator and accessible stairtower, new lighting, a systems overhaul, new parking control systems, and  landscape restoration.
