Ferguson Library

Stamford, Connecticut
The Stamford Public Library/ The Construction Consulting Group

43,000 square feet (renovated)
The Ferguson Library is in the heart of Stamford, Connecticut. It has long been a strong resource for the growing, diverse community. The building is of Georgian style with a 20 year old modern addition. Ten million patrons have utilized the library in some capacity during the past 20 years. The building is worn and needs to advance its technological capabilities.

The Children’s Program has doubled and ADA needs to be addressed. While utilizing the two styles there is an opportunity to enhance both the old and the recent wings with the changes that are necessary in lighting, graphics, color and furnishings. The idea of place-making and neighborhoods is a strong element which supports the Library’s philosophy. Our intent is to develop a path definition while incorporating graphics and appropriate lighting that will give the building an order that is clear and informative.
