The
renovation and expansion of Conard High School restores civic pride and excitement
in what was a tired, worn warehouse of a school.
The original school, built in 1957 with a technology wing added in 1977, had
numerous deficiencies, was badly in need of repair, and required expansion to
accommodate increased student enrollments. It was a complicated building with
many deficiencies related to life-safety and accessibility to be resolved.
The Conard school administration had an ambitious project schedule, requiring
the completion of design and construction in three years while the school remained
open. We developed cost-effective design solutions that equipped the school
with state-of-the-art technology, enabling energy conserving systems to be installed,
and we improved learning spaces.
Our work included a new gymnasium and athletic facilities, a new library and
media center, new classrooms and science laboratories, and administrative guidance
and student services offices.
