| Biographies | Richard Munday graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture from Adelaide University
in Australia in 1978 and a Master of Environmental Design from Yale University
in 1985. Prior to coming to the U.S. in 1983, he taught in the architecture
school at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, was co-editor and
publisher of the Australian architecture journal "Transition," and was in private architectural practice. In 1981 he was a recipient of
the President's Award to Young Architects from the Royal Institute of Architects,
Victoria Chapter. Mr. Munday joined Herbert S Newman and Partners in 1985 as Senior Designer, became an Associate in 1990, Senior Associate in 1998, and a Partner in 1999. He works closely with Herbert Newman in the master planning and design of new and renovated public school, institutional, and academic projects. His work with the firm includes renovation and additions to the New Haven City Hall; The Conte School; Hall High School; Nathan Hale School; Litchfeild 7-12 School; Lynn University Library; The New School for Social Research; and master planning projects including Downtown South Mixed-use Development in New Haven, CT and the Mizner Park Study. Mr. Munday has served as Visiting Critic at the Rhode Island School of Design, and Design Critic at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. He is registered in Victoria, Australia and Connecticut. His professional memberships include the American Institute of Architects and AIA/Connecticut, New Haven Preservation Trust; Architectural Alliance of the Arts Council of Greater New Haven, and the urban issues committee for the International Festival of Arts and Ideas. |
