We believe that just as it is the task of architecture to provide shelter and accommodate human activity, architecture must also dignify and enrich the lives of those who experience it. We care for human beings and want to contribute to the built environment in ways that will make a lasting, beneficial impact on the way people live.

Our work springs from understanding and using existing constraints. Each project starts from a fresh set of principles. Our aim is not only to give the best possible solution to the program as presented, but also to discover the "unwritten program"- that unifying idea that creates a cohesive meaningful organization from disparate elements.

Our interest is in the fundamental patterns of human behavior that do not change: the need for human interaction, the need to see and be seen, the need for privacy, the love of ceremony. Our approach to architectural design is a search for and a recognition of these human behavior patterns and the design of an architectural environment which enhances the quality of life and encourages communication and interaction. It is our hope that our designs will remain fresh for each new generation. We believe that certain core properties are inherent to architecture: the primacy of space, clarity of path and structure, the luminance of natural light and the humanizing quality of natural materials. We seek to found our design on these properties, and strive to execute solutions that are stimulating and harmonious.
